Fall 2026 refunding
Refunding and eRefunds
Refunding of credit balances To be sure you receive your refund quickly, enroll in eRefunds in PittPAY today. When a “Refund” transaction appears on the Account Activity tab and you receive an email confirmation from PittPAY, your refund is being processed. Contact us only if you have questions, as most banks will make these funds available to you within 2-4 business days.
Complete Your Loan Requirements
Refunds are not processed until Anticipated Aid is disbursed. Ensure your loan requirements are fulfilled so your loans can be disbursed.
Managing Your Refund
- Impact of enrollment changes: If any of your aid was awarded based on full-time enrollment but you plan to drop to half-time or less before the end of the add/drop period, avoid spending your refund until you understand how the enrollment change could affect your student account. Pitt may be required to reduce your aid and return a portion to the original funding source. This could result in you owing some or all the refund back to Pitt. For guidance specific to your situation, consult with a Financial Aid Counselor.
- How to reduce your loans: If you no longer need or want a loan or wish to reduce one, do not spend your refund or send it back to the lender before discussing plans with a Financial Aid Counselor. They can assist you in reducing or canceling your loan, potentially preserving your borrowing capacity for the future.
- Create a monthly budget. Developing a financial plan can prevent shortages of money you may need for living expenses or emergencies throughout the semester. Need help creating a budget? Schedule a financial coaching session with the Financial Wellness Center.
Authorized User Refunds
Only students can set up or change their eRefund profile in PittPAY. Authorized Users cannot access their student’s profile. Authorized users only receive refunds if:
- The parent is a Parent PLUS Loan borrower, and
- The borrower specified on the loan application that any credit balance created by the loan disbursement should go to the parent.
All other credit balances are sent to the student’s designated eRefund account.
