For students who did not consent to electronic delivery of the form, you will receive a paper version at your home address by the end of January. Students who agreed to electronic delivery can access the form line by visiting www.1098T.com and selecting “Access My Record”. On the form, the University must report “payments received” in Box 1 or “amounts billed” in Box 2 for qualified tuition and related fees during calendar year 2016. The University reports amounts billed in Box 2, so Box 1 is intentionally left blank.
Form 1098-T helps taxpayers determine if they qualify for a federal tax credit or deduction because they are paying education costs. Receiving the form does not guarantee you are eligible. Visit www.1098t.com for more information or consult with your tax advisor if you have questions.
