Students who have been awarded a Federal Direct, Mulert, Nursing, Pharmacy and/or Health Professions loan as part of their aid packages must accept each loan every academic year so it will appear as Anticipated Aid on the Account Summary and Account Details tabs in PittPAY. Students may also want to reduce the amount of a loan or decline it completely.

Once a Federal Direct loan has been accepted, there is yet another step to complete, as required by the Department of Education, or the loan funds will not be released to apply to the student account.  Students must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) AND Entrance Counseling at studentloans.gov or the loan funds will never be disbursed (released) by the Department of Education to apply to the student account.

Students who have been awarded Institutional, Nursing, Pharmacy and/or Health Professions loans are required to complete a promissory note and entrance counseling each academic year.  Students will receive an email, addressed to their Pitt email account, from Heartland ESCI with instructions to assist them in completing this process.  Funds from these loans will not be disbursed (released) to apply to the student account until the student completes the annual promissory note and entrance counselling.
