Accepting, Reducing, or Declining My Loans

Anyone who has been awarded a Federal Direct Loan (Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and/or PLUS Loans), or Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Professions, or Institutional Loans must accept each loan every academic year so the loans will appear as Anticipated Aid on the Account Summary and Account Activity tabs in PittPAY. Anticipated Aid reduces the amount you owe. You may also want to decline or reduce the amount of your loans.

You must accept your loans every academic year so the loans will appear as Anticipated Aid in PittPAY, reducing the amount you owe.  This applies to your Federal Direct Loans (Subsidized and Unsubsidized);  Graduate PLUS Loans; Nursing, Pharmacy or Health Professions Loans; and Institutional Loans.

To accept your loans:

  • Log into http://pi.tt/studentcenter
  • Select Financials from the blue menu on the left
  • Select Accept/Decline Awards and choose an action for the loan

If you do not wish to accept a loan, you must actively DECLINE it, so your financial aid office knows you do not intend to use the loan.

The credit you are given in the form of Anticipated Aid for the loans you have accepted will expire if you wait too long to complete the rest of your requirements. Check out your aid requirements  and make sure you have completed all that apply to you.
